I am…Comforted

I am…Comforted

I am...Comforted

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-5 ESV)

All of us on this fallen planet suffer affliction and pain. It is a part of being born into a broken world that is filled with sin. We can do nothing to prevent all pain. When we were far from God and spiritually dead, we found ourselves embracing sin which inevitably brought the consequences of sin, more pain.

However, a great light came into the lives of us, who now call Jesus Lord and Savior. Jesus has reconciled us to God and given us blessing after blessing in Him.

Today I enjoy the truth, that even though pain and suffering is common to all, we as those found in Christ, receive the comfort of God that all do not receive. As we share in Christ’s sufferings, we too share in His comfort.

We know our Heavenly Father intimately as a result of Christ’s sacrifice for us. Yesterday we were reminded that we are HEARD by Him and today we know that we are COMFORTED by Him just the same.

What good is a God who only hears. But what joy we have in knowing that we serve a God who responds, and responds with exactly what is needed, which often times in our pain is simply to be comforted by a friend.

Praise God that we have a true friend in Jesus and that in Him, I AM COMFORTED.
