“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 ESV
“Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out,” Acts 3:19 ESV
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.” James 4:10 ESV
Before we can ever even get to a place of being in Christ, we must have fully repented and humbled our selves before a perfect and holy God.
As we continually are found at peace and in complete ,wholeness in Jesus, we are also found to be in continual state of repentance. Jesus’ Spirit sanctifies us not in one initial moment, but moment by moment and day by day until the final quickening of the process when we go to be with Him. What this means is that we will not live lives of perfection any time soon, if Jesus tarries.
We will continue to sin. Less and less and hopefully not the same sins repeatedly as the days pass.
As sin cannot be completely avoided neither can repentance for a devoted and transformed believer.
In Jesus, I AM…REPENTANT.
