I am…Heard
“7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 NIV
“18 If I had cherished iniquity in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.
19 But truly God has listened;
he has attended to the voice of my prayer.” Psalm 66:18-19“Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.” Ephesians 3:12 NLT
As those who have become children of God, we know that we have the privilege to come to God in prayer and be heard. This ability is of course directly related to our right standing with God in Christ.
Having said that, it is clear that God is not expected to hear ALL prayers. As we see in the Psalm listed above, God does not listen to the prayers of those who cherish iniquity.
If we would be honest, at one point and in some way, we have all cherished iniquity or sin. However, if you are found in Jesus, if you have been sanctified by His blood, if you are trusting in Him for your salvation, you know that you NO LONGER cherish sin, though you still sin. It is something done against your spirit and done with great turmoil.
There is no joy in you coming from your sin.
This is the assurance that we have in Christ, that when we as believers in Christ pray, we ARE HEARD by God.

I have felt a greatest sense of God’s attentiveness when, during moments of great suffering, I chose to believe in Him above all temptation to give up. These experiences are like Christ’s isolation in the wildness. We all have these opportunities to realize that Psalm 34:18 is wonderfully true.
