I am…a Servant

I am…a Servant

I am... Servant

” Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle and set apart for the gospel of God–“Romans 1:1 NIV

“Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for Jesus Christ:” Jude 1:1 NIV

“Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:” 2 Peter 1:1 NIV

“James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.” James 1:1 NIV

“Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'” Luke 4:8 NIV

Ok. Are we seeing a pattern yet? Once we have accepted Jesus’ gift and have surrendered control to him and given him the fullness of our heart, he becomes our Lord and we are His servant.

After all, it is the will of God that we are transformed into likeness of Christ, more and more each day being made like Him. Jesus was the ultimate servant.

“and whoever wants to be first must be your slave–just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:27-28 NIV

As we see Jesus serve with love, it calls us back to our identity to serve likewise.

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” Galatians 5:13 NIV

Today let us come humbly to the throne of grace and mercy and present ourselves to the work of seeing the name of Jesus glorified in whatever way that God calls us to. We can be assured, whatever that looks like for us, it will be done as A SERVANT.
