I am…Special

I am…Special

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 NIV

I have a very good friend who constantly impresses on me the value of knowing who I am in Christ. She is such a great encouragement and blessing to my life. A conversation with her was what started me on this journey of really soaking in who I am in Jesus. I recall a time when she told me, “You are special.” My reaction was like, “No, I’m not. I’m just like everyone else. I am nothing special.”

In a sense I was responding from a place of humility, but it was also from the wrong perspective. I realize I had grown accustomed to looking at myself the way I imagined others would or should perceive me. That is actually a normal reaction. However, that is NOT what God would have us to do. He would have us to look at ourselves from His perspective.

When He looks at us, His forgiven ones, found IN CHRIST, you know what He sees?

He sees Jesus. Nothing is MORE special.
