I am…Persevering

I am…Persevering

I am...Persevering

12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prizeforwhich God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 3:12-14 NIV

As those who have been given the Holy Spirit of Christ, we have been given a great power. It is a power that continues to spur us onward toward the ultimate goal: CHRISTLIKENESS.

As believers in the one true God, and followers/trusters of Jesus the Messiah, let us push on through the pains of today. Let us sift through the aches of our present struggle. Let us take our cue from Paul as he writes in his letter to the church at Philippi: and strain toward what is ahead. I love how Paul calls us to forget our yesterdays and go after our tomorrow.

Take that advice today. Yesterday is an often painful and usually fruitless place to live. There is NO life in our yesterday. Let us LIVE in our today, with a focus on creating our tomorrow and becoming one day closer to our goal: CHRISTLIKENESS.

In Jesus, this is possible, as we can say, I AM PERSEVERING.
